  • Create a character who lives in the mid-1800s. Begin your story with: "He (or she) stepped down from the carriage and ...".

    Develop your character more by thinking about the type of person he or she is, what the character is planning to do, the time period that the character lives in, etc.

    Write a short story based on this new character you just developed. Research the area where your character lives, the history surrounding that area in the mid-1800s, and the clothing styles and scenery of that time period. Then write and illustrate your story.
