  • Write a story that begins with this sentence: "When I opened the lid to the trunk, the most amazing thing happened!"

Visualize the trunk, opening the lid, and looking inside. What might you see, or what might happen when the lid is opened?

Write your story, beginning with the first sentence. Be creative, use descriptive words, and make your story exciting! You can illustrate it, too!

  • Previous Creative Writing Idea

  • Write a story that includes a mouse, a giraffe, a hot air balloon, and colorful ribbons.

Imagine what might happen when you put all four together in your story. Who are these characters? What are they doing together? Where are they going, and why?

Create a very imaginative story about the mouse, giraffe, hot air balloon, and ribbons. Draw and color pictures for your story, too.

  • What if the sun stopped shining during the day?

Think about how dark it would be every day. How might it change our planet?

Describe how your days would be different and how life would change.

  • Write your own poem that begins: "The fog comes on little cat feet."

Describe how the fog looks as it comes across the land or water.

Read the rest of Carl Sandburg's poem "Fog". Compare how your poem might be similar or different: "The fog comes on little cat feet / It sits looking over harbor and city / on silent haunches / and then moves on."
